Reviews for Jasmine Cottage

“A little bit of paradise!” 5 out of 5 stars. Reviewed by Amanda for a stay in September 2016
I knew when we booked that we'd found somewhere special- not least because Denise was so lovely and helpful in all correspondence before we even arrived! On arriving, I almost immediately fell in love with the place. The outdoor grounds were stunning as we drove in and then when we set foot into the cottage it was evident that the website pictures were good, but unlike many places you go, I'd say the pictures just didn't fully show Jasmine Cottage in its full glory. The welcome basket, fresh flowers and supper made it feel even more special (highly recommend ordering the Pork Provencal and Tarte Tatin).
Denise is close by and really helpful and friendly should you need her, but not intrusive in any way. The cottage is so very well (and tastefully) equipped. I'm the sort of person that usually brings the kitchen sink as like my own things, but I didn't feel the need having read all the information on the website and I was not disappointed with anything at all.
We went out and about everyday and visited lots of lovely places as recommended in the visitor guide. We ate out at some lovely places, most notably and special was L'Atelier Bistro in Langoelan village just a 3 minute drive away.
This was our first experience of France and we loved it. I was personally a bit concerned about being a bit remote, but I needn't have been as I was so happy to go out in the day and then return home to the cottage in the evening. It is an idyllic location and Denise and Julie have created a little piece of paradise and work very hard to maintain it.

“Luxurious break in Brittany ” 5 out of 5 stars. Reviewed by Robert for a stay in August 2016
Just returned from a relaxing luxurious break in Brittany. It's not very often you arrive at your holiday destination to be truly satisfied that you have made the right choice for your family holiday. Choosing the right holiday is not an easy task & we were amazed. We stayed in Jasmine Cottage & we can honestly say the pictures on the website didn't do it justice. A beautiful cottage, a beautiful setting! If you are looking for a holiday in Brittany, look know further you will not be disappointed. Looking forward to return very soon.

Lovely tranquil cottage. Review by Rosy S for a stay in July 2016.
Jasmine Cottage sits in a flower filled courtyard. The gardens surrounding the cottage are stunning, there were butterflies and swallows everywhere. I have never stayed anywhere so peaceful and quiet. The cottage was very clean and beautifully furnished. The kitchen had very good quality equipment and everything you would need to prepare a delicious meal of the local produce. We were given lovely fresh things from the garden as well as a well stocked welcome pack. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a pretty place then Jasmine Cottage is for you. This is one of the nicest holiday cottages that we have ever stayed in in France. Denise and Julie are always willing to help but do not intrude. Thank you to them for making our holiday so good.

Stunning and peaceful Review by Linda A for a stay in Jul 2016.
The cottage is truly stunning and it exceeded all of our expectations. We were given a very warm welcome by the owners Denise and Julie who are on hand if you should have any issues. Arriving at the cottage we were greeted by the most generous and thoughtful welcome pack. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. The area has an abundance of lovely villages with really nice restaurants. If your looking for peace and quiet in gorgeous surroundings then this is the place for you......highly recommended!!

So good, we delayed our return trip! Review by Lynn M for a stay in Apr 2016.
Jasmine Cottage is in a peaceful setting - a very pretty property, tastefully renovated and furnished. The friendly owners, Denise and Julie, work hard to maintain their high standards, and have created a fabulous place. It is immaculately clean, equipped with everything you require, and with a thoughtfully well-stocked welcome basket. We loved it so much we amended our return ferry crossing, staying on for an extra 4 days. We followed their recommendations for restaurants and places to visit and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. We will definitely return and highly recommend it to you.

"Perfect Country Retreat” Reviewed by C & C V for a stay in October 2015.
We wholeheartedly agree with everything said in previous reviews, as we found our week in Jasmine Cottage to be perfect in every way. In fact, although the pictures on the website were attractive enough to make us want to stay there, they almost did not do the cottage justice. How lovely to drive into that beautiful courtyard after a long drive, and be met by Denise, who showed us around and then delivered our dinner for our first night. Everything in the cottage is of high quality, specially chosen with care and consideration by the owners to provide a real home from home. It took us five minutes to feel 'at home' and before long were enjoying the absolutely delicious Bouef Bourguenon and amazing Tart Tatin, accompanied by an excellent bottle of wine, with a fire in the woodburner. What a start to our week!
You will want for nothing if you stay here. As said previously, the starter hamper is generous with some home grown delicacies so much appreciated. Added to that, the bonus of a hot tub was great after a day out sightseeing. The garden was so private, as was the whole layout of the cottage.
We would highly recomment the Bistro in the village where we had two dinners. An excellent chef, with front of house managed by his wife. Fabulous rustic French cooking, but do book as its very small.
But most of all we loved coming back to the little hamlet and just putting our feet up, reading and relaxing. I would say to anyone thinking of booking up, do not miss out on the excellent dinners provided by Denise, truly exceptional.
Denise and Julie have gone the extra mile, and some. We have stayed in self catering cottages all over France and in our experience this is definitely the best. It was hard to leave, but hope to return.

Brittany Spa Cottages is a ‘cut above the rest’ Reviewed by Linda L for a stay in September 2015. The owners work very hard to provide guests with everything for the perfect stay, they are wonderful hosts, very helpful and welcoming. Jasmine Cottage was ‘chocolate box’ gorgeous, spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished, well equipped and cosy. The beds were amazing, providing the comfort for a restful sleep. On lazy, warm afternoons, we enjoyed the very private garden at the rear of the cottage. The hot tub was fun, relaxing and private. The use of bikes was also a bonus for cycling around the quiet lanes and the beautiful lake, Etang du Dordu. For anyone who wants to unwind and relax, yet be able to visit the sights within a short distance, this is the ideal place. The welcome pack was more than generous, including home-grown produce and would have to be seen to be believed. A lovely gesture. Brittany Spa Cottages has to be the best accommodation we have rented in Brittany. One week was not enough and we would not hesitate to return.

"Jasmine Cottage is a real gem and a credit to its owners" Review by Mark & Helen for a stay in August 2015
There are sometimes when you come home from a holiday and can't wait to sleep in the comfort of your own bed again...this time wasn't one of them and leaving on Saturday morning was one of the hardest things we had to do.
Nestled down a single track, you turn into Brittany Spa Cottages and are greeted by beautiful gardens, a gorgeous gravelled courtyard and stunning cottages which invite you to come in, relax and unwind.
Met by Denise we were given a warm welcome and shown everything we needed to know....for our children this was most definitely a guide on how the Hot Tub worked (a joy to relax in each day).
Settling into Jasmine cottage could not have been easier, all the creature comforts of home, with a chic/boutique feel, super soft towels and lovely little touches; lavender scent bags, bath/shower soaps and a welcoming kitchen hamper with all you need to settle into the 'French' way....bread, cheese, wine and beautifully fresh fruit and veg (grown by our wonderful hosts).

As a family of 4 (children 11 & 9yrs) we had all the space we needed, including our own garden with covered BBQ area, outside table/chairs and sun loungers.
Inside the cottage was immaculate, rooms beautifully presented and beds to absolutely die for...what a fantastic nights sleep! To be honest there wasn't a day we didn't get up before 9.30am (including the children)...
Set in the Scorff Valley, Jasmine Cottage is well situated for exploring each day and Denise and Julie provide loads of info on the local area and further afield, our favourites were definitely Concarneau (beautiful moated castle) and Le Pouldu (great for a bit of beach bathing and a swimming).

Summing up Jasmine Cottage in a word is difficult; for total relaxation with only the sounds of birds and crickets to listen to it can't be beaten......'Heavenly'

“Fabulous find in the peaceful Brittany countryside” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed by Kat for a stay in March 2015
We booked Jasmine Cottage for a last minute get away before baby number 2 arrives and were delighted to have found such a fantastic place!
On arrival we were greeted with a welcome hamper of local food and wine and a roaring fire in the log burner. The cottage is spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished and absolutely immaculate. There's a detailed guest info pack with some superb restaurant and market recommendations. Set in countryside near to a small town, there was lots to explore in the local area, and most other parts of Brittany (including the coast) are well within driving distance for a day trip. We also had a few lazy days at the cottage, making the most of afternoon naps in the very comfortable bed and going in the hot tub (which our 2 year old absolutely loved).
Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing holiday and we would have no hesitation in recommending Jasmine Cottage as a fantastic place to stay.

"Beautifully kept cottage in fantastic rural setting” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014
My wife and I stayed at Jasmine Cottage in November, wanting a quiet week away in a relaxing location but within reach of the various towns and sights of Brittany - this is exactly what we got. The setting is fantastic! The cottage we stayed in was beautifully clean and tidy and tastefully decorated with all the practicalities you would want and need.... Basically from the cottage, all of Brittany is within a 2 hour drive so it's a great base if you want a few days out. The weather can be pretty cold in November but the walls of the cottage are thick and the electric heating and wood burner provide plenty of heat to keep warm. All in all we got exactly what we wanted from this trip, would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing trip to Brittany, and hope to stay again in the future.

"Absolutely lovely cottage" Reviewed by Adam & Carol August 2014. We stayed in Jasmine Cottage for a week in August 2014. The cottage is beautiful - it's in a wonderfully peaceful location, and the owners could not have been more welcoming hosts. The hot tub was very popular with my teenage boys, and the garden - in full bloom - was gorgeous. Definitely highly recommended for a relaxing, high quality break in Brittany. We found plenty for two teenage boys to do in the local area, including lake swimming and a tree top adventure course.

"Beautiful gite" Reviewed by Steph June 2014. We have just returned from a two week stay in Jasmine cottage it is the best gite we have ever stayed in and a great deal of work has gone into making sure that your every need is catered for. Denise and Julie are lovely hosts, and although they are always there if needed they make sure you have your privacy. There are many places to visit in the area and we had the most wonderful weather. It is a very beautiful area and just walking around the nearby lake we saw an otter and many species of birds but even sitting in our own garden we were able to watch the pine martins playing in the cherry tree. If you are looking for a very high standard of holiday home set in the most beautiful countryside this is the place to come.

"Perfect in every way!" 5 out of 5 stars Tracey & Mark UK August 2013
What a lovely place.. even better than our expectations! We wanted a relaxing, peaceful break in beautiful surroundings and that is exactly what we got! Immaculately kept cottage and gardens, the cottage was well equipped with everything you needed and the garden was large with comfortable outside loungers and seating area and a big BBQ! Also the owners very obviously take a lot of pride in their accommodation which was very tastefully done and they added lots of lovely touches like the very generous welcome hamper, spa goodies and general everyday supplies.. just made our arrival so much easier and was like home from home! The owners were extremely welcoming and were on hand if needed to help or give recommendations, nothing was too much trouble. Well worth every penny and would definitely recommend these cottages to anyone wishing to visit this beautiful area!

Reviews for Orchid Barn

“Peaceful and relaxing stay” 5 out of 5 stars Reviewed by Vicky for a stay in September 2016
We had such a lovely week at Orchid Barn and couldn't recommend it highly enough. It was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed, particularly in the small but perfectly formed kitchen which made a really welcome change! We asked Denise to make us a meal for our first night which was absolutely delicious and well worth the lack of hassle trying to pull something together after a long drive.
The private garden was huge an really tranquil- a lovely spot for reading and/or naps! And of course the hot tub which we took full advantage of.
We loved exploring the local area and would really recommend the market at Auray, Concarneau, Pont Aven, Vannes and Carnac amongst many others. We hope to return very soon!!

“Feels like home.” 5 out of 5 stars Reviewed by Richard for a stay in July 2016
When we arrived it felt like we were being welcomed as friends. Everything was explained to us and we were raring to go. The famous welcome pack was great, setting you up for the weekend. This had been furnished and equipped so well, our next gite, which was also British owners, felt like it was all of their cast offs, and probably was. The Gardens are great, private and separated from the owners by a huge beautiful hornbeam hedge, comfortable loungers and ability to eat outside. BBQ available but we didn''t get round to using it.
Would thoroughly recommend this gite, for a carefree relaxing holiday this is the place. Thank you Denise & Julie for a wonderful week and the best lettuce I have ever tasted.

Idyllic Review by L Thomas for a stay in Jun 2016.
If you would like somewhere to stay that offers you that home from home feeling? then Orchid Barn is the place for you. We have stayed at a few places in France this is the best, Julie and Denise are wonderful hosts . A Fabulous welcome hamper on arrival plus all the comforts you need when on holiday. The cottage is just lovely . You have your own very private garden and the Fabulous Hot Tub which we used daily . Do try the local restaurants nearby they were fabulous. Total relaxation is what you get here. We saw some very beautiful wildlife and a very strange dog. We will definitely return to this holiday haven, Rob & Lorraine

Guest review for our one bedroom luxury cottage in Brittany, by Alan & Heather 2016 "Back Again - Better Than Ever!" Back again this time for a 2 week break in this beautiful cottage. Our review last year really said it all - but there have been more subtle changes that make it even better. It is clear that this is a place where the owners genuinely want to provide the best possible gite experience. Everything has been superbly maintained. Great accommodation, a fantastic bed and warm comfortable living area and kitchen. The most obvious change is a massive upgrade in the wifi - now very fast - and the garden seems to have matured and developed. It remains a great location and the owners could not be more helpful in recommendation to local restaurants, markets etc. There is little more we can say - its as damn near perfect as you can make it!

"Perfect” Reviewed by Kevin & Anne for a stay in August 2015 We have recently returned from two weeks in Orchid Barn and had a wonderful time. This was our second visit but last year we were only able to stay for a week. Our reasons for returning were the excellent standard of the accommodation, which is maintained to a very high standard, and the location which is great for touring (last year we explored the south coast but this year headed up to the north coast which is beautiful and well worth a visit or two). The owners, Julie and Denise ,who live next door are very discreet but really helpful if needed. We can honesty say they do everything they can to make your holiday perfect. We recommend you book as you will not be disappointed.

Review for Orchid Barn, by Alan & Heather April 2015 "The best cottage we have ever rented and we have rented scores of them down the years!" This place is simply superb in every single way we can think of. Very modern kitchen with all mod cons... large living room has a very comfy 3 seat sofa and large TV with a decent range of British Channels, a DVD player and a large stock of DVDs and books & broadband wifi. There is a large modern bathroom with a fantastic shower and a towel rail that could heat the property on its own. An ample supply of big fluffy towels and high quality toiletries are all included.
Then one large bedroom with a huge sleigh bed that is one of the most comfortable we have ever found in a holiday home anywhere. Location wise the cottages are very central and you can easily strike out for the North or South Coasts. The local roads are very quiet with beautiful walks and cycling on the roads and paths around many lakes canals etc.

What more can we add ...... well not much except that we came for a week this year and, before we left, booked two weeks next year!! Believe us - it IS that good.

“Every Bit as Good as the First Stay!” Review by Robin & Joyce October 2014 We Stayed in 2013 and had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay so we returned in 2014 and weren't disappointed in any way. We again found a very warm welcome, cleanliness and comfort and the most generous welcome pack around! Orchid Barn is set in a most lovely rural area, tranquil set in rolling countryside yet the nearest friendly village is only minutes away. We found lots to see and do even on our second visit, Brittany is really stunning, the markets are a must. Brittany Spa Cottages are ideally placed for touring by car or cycling and there's good walking too. The owners who live on site are very friendly and helpful but also very discrete, they really want you to enjoy your holiday to the full. Aside from the setting of beautiful traditional farm buildings the large on-site hot tub is fantastic and not to be missed; a perfect end to the day. We'll stay again.

"fantastic!" Review by Kevin & Anne August 2014 We can honestly say that Orchid Barn rates as the best self catering accommodation that we have ever experienced in France and over the years we have rented a considerable number of properties! Orchid Barn has been furnished to a high spec including a fabulous king size bed (just like being at home) down to quality garden furniture. The owners, who live next door, are the perfect hosts and happy to assist when needed but are not intrusive in any way. They also provide their guests with an incredibly generous welcome hamper, including fresh produce from their own garden which was most appreciated. There is a private garden at the rear of the garden which has the sun all day and is perfect for al fresco dining. We enjoyed breakfast and late suppers in the garden. There is also a hot tub available to guests and whilst it looked very inviting we did not get time to use it during our stay as we were too busy sightseeing! We had such a wonderful time it is our intention to return next year which is the best recommendation we can offer.

"Just perfect! Reviewed by Mary May 2014. A short easy drive from Roscoff with clear directions from the owners took us to the attractive Brittany Spa Cottages location. It was love at first sight of the courtyard, and our cottage, Orchid Barn. We arrived on a Saturday, and knowing that shopping and eating out on a French weekend can be difficult, we ordered meals (fish pie and lasagne - both absolutely spot on) which, with the very generous "welcome pack" easily saw us through until Monday. The cottage was tastefully furnished to a high standard (no mix'n'match), noteworthy points being the comfortable couch, very usefully-sized dining table and UK Freesat TV in the living/dining room; the fully adequate storage/hanging facilities and wondrously comfortable huge bed. The rear private garden was just a delight and after a stormy Scottish winter, a sheer delight to eat outside in early April.
Although the whole of the region is awash with châteaux and sights to see, we limited our ‘activities’ to relaxing in the hot tub, riding the free-to-use bikes around the nearby lake, and wandering the lanes, oh, yes, and eating!! (Langoelan has an excellent, small and friendly bistro, L'Atelier, and the owner speaks English if you need)
We will definitely be going back, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Brittany Spa Cottages to anyone.

"Superb in every way" Review by Jo, Brighton UK April 2014. The accommodation is truly luxurious, with ultra-comfortable bed, crisp linen and fluffy towels. The hot tub adds to the unique experience of total relaxation. The cottage is fully equipped and you really can arrive with just your toothbrush as everything else is provided for you, including toiletries, lavender sachets and generous food hamper. We booked supper on arrival (mouth-watering goats' cheese tart with salad plus apple and vanilla tart) which turned out to be an inspired move as it allowed us to do absolutely nothing on arrival other than relax in the hot tub and enjoy the fabulous food and drink in the comfort of our own patio and garden. The owners have created a fantastic retreat and we hope to make this our regular getaway where we can truly relax from it all and enjoy each other's company in luxurious surroundings

“Comfort and Tranquility in a Lovely Setting”
5 of 5 stars Robin & Joyce Reviewed October 27, 2013 for a stay in September 2013
After many hours searching for something at the top end we found Orchid Barn. From the outset communication with the owners was excellent, queries answered fully and promptly. Booking includes a comprehensive information pack.
On arrival first impressions were good. Lovely well maintained farm buildings with manicured grounds. We were given a warm welcome from Denise who took time showing us around the property explaining the ins and outs; the outdoor hot tub was already calling!

Orchid Barn is delightfully comfortable accommodation for 2 with attention to detail from end to end. Large very comfy bed, nice lounge for relaxation with dining table, good tv and wi-fi, small kitchen area and leading off the lounge, one step down, a large shower room with a shower that really works. You have exclusive access to the large garden at the rear of the Barn with quality garden furniture too. Car parking is next the garden very close by. Although this accommodation would not be suitable for wheelchair users it could be ok for others as there are only a couple of steps to the garden and none to the front of the Barn.
The hot tub has to get a mention; it's large, private and thoroughly relaxing. Its shared with the other cottage, a.m. or p.m. day about.
This was a real find; the owners work hard to give their guests a memorable holiday experience. Their welcome pack was one of the most generous we have come upon. The owners live on site, are there if you need them but otherwise very discrete.

“Exceeded all our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed by Claire & Greg UK for a stay in July 2013
We chose Orchid Barn hoping for a peaceful location away from it all, with the opportunity for some good mountain biking. All our expectations were exceeded. The cottage was perfect, very clean, the kitchen with everything you need, a comfortable bed, powerful shower, generous welcome back and an absolutely lovely private terrace with garden for BBQ's in the evening sunshine. The hot tub was an added bonus. The mountain biking was fabulous with some very nearby VTT routes clearly marked providing good trails and views along the way. Julie and Denise were excellent hosts and available to answer any questions we had and provide advice re the local area. We will be definitely returning and we thoroughly recommend a visit.

“We are missing the peace and quiet already”
Nigel J Gillingham UK Reviewed July 8, 2012
We have just returned from a week at Orchid Barn and what a pleasure it was. We expected it to be good as we stayed at the owners' previous property in the Lot et Garonne, but it exceeded those expectations.

We normally book cottages larger than we actually need, and as far away from neighbours as possible. So we did have concerns that we were staying in a one bedroom gite and sharing the location with one other gite and the owners. No need to worry, once welcomed on arrival, including a well stocked welcome pack, the owners were there if needed, and we 'bumped into' our neighbours just the once.
The gite itself was plenty big enough, in fact we were pleasantly surprised by the space available, the bedroom was a good size with a large and comfy bed, the living dining area was more than big enough for our needs, as was the bathroom. Everything was done to a very high standard and is a credit to the owners, with the icing on the cake being the hot tub!

Most of Brittany is within easy reach of Brittany Spa Cottages and the information provided ensures that you can plan your stay efficiently.

Plus points:
1) Total peace and quiet
2) High quality, spacious accommodation
3) Fantastic welcome
4) Friendly and helpful owners who are there when/if you need them
5) Hot tub
6) Location

Negative points.
1) We didn't book for two weeks!
